Greetings, I’m James Brown. I am a professional flatbed driver, a 12-year United States Marine Corps veteran, a TCA Highway Angel, and the co-founder of Angels of the Asphalt: Beyond the Driver’s Seat. Throughout my life, service has remained my core mission—beginning with my time in the Marine Corps and continuing today across America’s vast highway network. My years in trucking have revealed that this industry represents much more than just freight transport. It is fundamentally about the individuals behind the wheel, the families waiting for their return, and the fellow drivers we encounter daily who might need a helping hand.

There have been many instances on the road where I pulled over simply because someone was in distress. While some of those actions resulted in national awards and recognition, accolades were never my motivation. I stopped because I believe you should never drive past anyone in need. This philosophy serves as the guiding principle for Angels of the Asphalt.

Alongside my co-founder, David Norman, I established Angels of the Asphalt to provide a raw, authentic look at the trucking industry. We focus on education, safety protocols, and the reality of life on the road, while highlighting driver stories and supporting veterans and trucking families. Our goal is to honor the remarkable people who keep our nation functioning. However, I envision Angels of the Asphalt as something greater than a media outlet or a brand. I want to cultivate a dedicated community rooted in mutual support.

Being an Angel isn't about seeking fame, earning trophies, or wearing a specific logo. It is defined by the choices you make when duty calls. When a fellow traveler is in trouble, an Angel is the one who stops to help.
